2016 Vineyard Tours

The wine harvest is upon us again and I am happy to announce the 2016 vineyard tours.

Enjoy a traditional Turkish lunch as we visit 2 Trakya vineyards in the company of Chef Sommelier Alain Wursching.

Take in the fresh air as we walk through the vineyard, participate in the harvest* and learn about the wine making process.

As we follow the Turkish wine road we will discover some of the best boutique wines that Turkey has to offer.

Each tour includes a visit to 2 vineyards & wine tasting with Alain Wursching, breakfast, lunch and all transportation.

All for just €95 or 295tl!

During the trip Alain will answer any questions you have about wine and teach you how to prepare, serve and keep any kind of wine in your home. There will also be opportunities to purchase wine at the vineyards with Alain’s expert advice on what to buy and which foods to match with.

Tours are for a minimum of 10 people and a maximum of 24, the harvest will be a very popular and busy time so book early to avoid disappointment.

satoOn this tour we will be visiting the Chateau Nuzun & Melen vineyards.

The tour will leave Beylerbeyi on the Asian-side at 08h30 and arrive in Taksim Square around 09h00 to collect our guests from the European side. Once everyone is on board we will begin our journey at around 09h15, stopping along to way for breakfast, and arriving at Chateau Nuzun by late morning.

Chateau Nuzun was established by Nazan and Necdet in 2004. The vineyard is planted near the town of Tekirdağ, Marmara Ereğlisi, in a small village called Çeşmeli (water fountains). 7 hectares of vine-grapes were planted in 2005 and 2006. In 2010, they were awarded the organic growers certificate.

The philosophy of Chateau Nuzun is minimalism and the result is some very special wines. We will tour this truly boutique winery and enjoy a tasting of 4-5 wines with complimentary cheeses. Afterwards we will continue our journey to the Melen vineyard in time for lunch. After lunch we will take our second tour and tasting.

The Melen Winery is located in Hoşköy on the north coast of the Sea of Marmara. Protected from the north by the Ganohora Mountains, the vine yard is on the breezy side of the hill facing the sea.

Wine has been made in the area for hundreds of years and the Melen winery is a family run operation grown over the years by three generations of the Çetintaş family.

The return journey will begin 16h00-16h30. We will stop for tea and coffee on the way home and get back to Istanbul in the early evening.
